Trevor, Rod and the Modern-day Craftsmen team have been creating custom masterpieces in Indiana for over 27 years. From building new custom homes & remodeling, to all types of woodwork & cabinetry, our work has the superior quality you and your home deserve.
In 1995, we opened RST Custom Woodworking, LLC as a custom woodworking business, building things like custom stairways, cabinetry, crown moulding, & furniture, among other things. But somewhere along the way, our clients began asking us to do more - they started requesting that we completely build their new custom homes, or to remodel their existing homes. While custom woodworking remains a significant part of our business, the scope of our work is much broader today than it was in 1995.
Our team consists of more than 30 employees, and many of them have been on our team for over 22 years . These highly-trained, highly-skilled, long-term employees make it possible for us to call our team Modern-day Craftsmen.
How we do it
As Modern-day Craftsmen, we understand every client, home and project is unique. In fact, that's what makes our approach unique. We don't try to solve our clients' needs with the same solution every time. Instead, we listen and try to understand what each client wants - and needs. And then we make our recommendations - even if that means we have to undertake additional research in order to provide the best solution.
Sometimes our clients involve us from the conceptual stage of the project, before any blueprints have been created. We have extensive experience getting involved at this stage of the process and can provide you with additional support here, too.
Sometimes our clients wait to involve us until after blueprints are created. We don't mind getting involved at this stage, either. In fact, we're happy to step in anywhere along the process as you think best.

Leading the Team
Trevor and Rod have been a team since the very beginning – cousins that lived next door to each other through first grade. They reconnected in college and now lead the team at Modern-day Craftsmen.
Trevor Remster
Trevor got the foundation for his business knowledge from studying business at Indiana University. He and his wife, Angela, live in Plainfield with their dog. If Trevor isn’t working on a custom project for clients, you will likely find him traveling, hiking or reading.
Rod Cooper
Rod studied construction management at IUPUI – giving him the education and experience to lead your new build or remodel. Rod and his wife of 26 years, Jill, live in Monrovia. They have 2 grown children, Brianna, who is a school teacher, and Lane, who is a police officer. When Rod isn’t busy making clients' dreams for their homes come true, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family antiquing and traveling.
